The magnificent floor dates from 1761 and is the work of Leonardo Chiaiese, one of the most important Abruzzo maiolica artesans working in Naples at the time.

In the centre is an angel with a flaming sword driving Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden. The devil, in the form of a serpent, is wrapped around the trunk of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.

Various exotic animals are depicted somewhat imaginatively: an elephant, a jaguar, a lion, monkeys and a crocodile, all with remarkably human features. The foreground, near the main door, represents domestic animals including goats and cattle.
